Charles' Emeryville factory and retail shop is set to close Feb. 15.
Charles Chocolates owner Chuck Siegel told SFoodie that, provided the gods continue to smile upon him, he'll open his new retail space in San Francisco Centre (845 Market at Fourth St.) this Saturday, Feb. 6. The news will be bittersweet for East Bay fans, as this spells the imminent closure of the 6,700-square-foot candy kitchen and retail store in Emeryville (6529 Hollis at 66th St.), presently set for Feb. 15.

Those who haven't seen this truly special space, where watching the candy-making process is both encouraged and explained, might want to rush over and check it out. But Siegel is building what he reckons will be an even better kitchen very close to the new store, and hopes to have it open to the public before the end of the year.
