Jonny Raglin and Jeff Hollinger of Absinthe did a walk-through yesterday of Comstock Saloon, their emerging homage to Barbary Coast boozing at the North Beach site of the shuttered San Francisco Brewing Company (155 Columbus at Kearny). |

The 1907 building originally housed a tavern called Andromeda. The O.G. mahogany bar is being restored, only with the finish rubbed off so it looks appropriately antique. Comstock's centerpiece? A statue of beloved S.F. screwball Emperor Norton by local artist Peter Macchiarini. Comstock will have a full kitchen, though Raglin suggested the food would land somewhere on middle ground between full-blown restaurant and limited bar bites. Target launch date is in six to eight weeks. Read more ― and cop a peek at the Norton statue ― at our sister news blog, The Snitch.
