Yats Making Plans to Open a Soup Kiosk in the Financial District

Thanks to a tip from Eater, we learned that New Orleans food specialist Yats' New Orleans Original Po' Boys started serving lunch last Friday at Annie's Bistro (2819 California at Divisadero). Trading under the name Creole Soups and Such, Louisiana specialties such as gumbo and alligator stew (though not po' boys) are being served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays. Yats expects its restaurant space in the Bayview (4800 Third St. at Oakdale) to open around the first week of April, as SFoodie's Andrew Simmons reported in December.

Over steaming bowls of spicy blue crab and corn bisque, and Creole stew made hearty with meaty chunks of red snapper, we discovered that Yats' plans for citywide dominance do not end there. After the April opening (when the po' boys will return), the kitchen hopes to expand to a soup-ladling kiosk in the Financial District. And if the Annie's location continues to go well, they might keep that in the spicy mix.
