Korean tacos began appearing a few months ago.
The relentless patter of rain sloshing the street outside our living room window has subsided, if only for a few minutes. There is a hopeful brightness behind the clouds, but we're wasting no time. We're pulling on our boots. Our favorite liquor store's lovely little deli counter has Korean steak tacos for $3 apiece and we're fixing to grab a few. For months now, Rhea's Deli (800 Valencia St. at 19th St.) has been turning out some of the biggest, drippiest, and loveliest sandwiches in the neighborhood, if not the city. We were especially partial to the pork katsu with pickled jalapenos, but now we're changing our order ― to tacos, of course, a no-brainer really. In the words of a bloated, addled Jim Morrison (as inhabited by Val Kilmer) towards the end of Oliver Stone's The Doors, Come on; let's get some tacos.
