Gill guys: At the Daily Feed, Gutenberg pays photographic homage to the guys behind the fish counter at 99 Ranch. It's a City of Big Shoulders sort of Sandburgian tribute: The Sunday afternoon scene at the fish counter, he writes, "is a combination of Chinese cooks, Gospel singing Dungeness crab lovers and the rest of us who just want to grab some grub for supper. I always examine the plastic bag-lined boots of the mongers and think about their logged hours as they subdue seafood for their flood of followers." Especially since Gutenberg is snagging bass for a recipe from Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc at Home ― it's a picture of sweaty, no doubt stinky working guys, busting their humps so gastro effetes like us can have something ravishing to serve with chilled Muscadet.
