It's an airy, contemporary urban space that seems perfect for lazy contemplation of the veal schnitzel sandwich, served open-face on grilled rye, made extra luscious with an optional fried egg. Go ahead: Break your New Year's carb-curbing resolution with a side of pan-fried späetzle, nubbly, chewy, and delicately shiny with butter. You can work it off on the walk back to BART.
