​Dust off your thinking cap this weekend for a free event at the West Berkeley Pasta Shop (1786 Fourth St. at Hearst). Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., a who's-cool collection of Bay Area culinary writers will be discussing the future of food systems, farming, and their various opuses. Panelists include Novella Carpenter (Farm City), Joyce Goldstein (Tapas: Sensational Small Plates from Spain), Mani Niall (Sweet! From Agave to Turbinado, Home Baking with Every Kind of Natural Sugar and Sweetener), Nicolette Hahn Niman (Righteous Porkchop), and Bryant Terry (Vegan Soul Kitchen).
