In weather like this, you need to eat like a Bavarian plowboy. Pick your way gingerly around patches of black ice to get to Monk's Kettle, perch at the bar, and order the elbow macaroni with cheddar-ale sauce and toasted breadcrumbs, served up in a mini cast-iron skillet.
And because keeping warm today will be a matter of life and death, it's practically an obligation to suck down a St. Bernardus Christmas Ale from Belgium. Sure, it contains 10 percent alcohol by volume, but what the hell: As long as you're letting the nice Muni driver take you back to the office, its not like you have anything important to do this afternoon. Nothing as important as disking a field, anyway.
