Thanksgiving Freak-Out Solution: The Plant Café Organic's $45 Prix Fixe
In September, you made some grandiose announcement you'd be cooking Thanksgiving this year. Now, two days out, you're freaking, imagining a Turkey Day eve spent fishing a rock-solid Butterball out of the Safeway freezer bin. Relax. The Plant Café (Pier Three on the Embarcadero) is offering a $45 prix-fixe Turkey Day meal it's billing as stress-, chemical-, and hormone-free. (By hormone-free, we're pretty sure it's turkey hormones they're talking about, not yours.) The menu includes sunchoke and leek soup, chicory salad with pomegranate, roasted turkey, caramelized veggie filo roulade, potatoes, and a tempting choice of traditional pumpkin pie à la mode or sour cherry tart. For an extra $20, you can quaff wine (sort of a no-brainer). Service is from noon to 7 p.m. Sounds like the toughest part about this one'll be lifting your finger to dial for a rezzy. Avoid even that via OpenTable.
