Dontaye Ball: Savoring the smokiness at Outside In.

At last weekend's Outside In street-food party, our nose led us to an extraordinary trough of pulled pork. The spice worked all the way up the nasal passages and triggered the tummy.

Turns out it was a smoked sensation from Dontaye Ball's Good Foods Catering, which moves bacon BBQ-dressed sandos of the stuff (along with brisket, ribs, and chicken) at the Alemany Farmers Market (100 Alemany). Ball, who's cooked at Delfina, Spork, Contigo, and Google, told SFoodie that this pillowy and tender offering is smoked for eight hours and cooked for an additional six, equaling 14 hours of love you can taste.

"But my neighbors hate me," he smiled.

The Alemany Farmers Market operates Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; show up earlier for a full selection.
