Patxi's on Fillmore Slated to Open Next Tuesday
More pizza news, hot off the wire: Back in May, Eater reported that Patxi's Chicago Pizza was expanding to three Bay Area locations (there's one in Palo Alto) with the opening of a new restaurant on Fillmore between Lombard and Chestnut, in the Marina. Now, officials at the Patxi's Hayes Street location have confirmed that the Marina opening should happen next Tuesday. ![]()
allentomdude/Flickr Oh, sweet Jesus: A sausage, olive, and pepper deep dish from Patxi's in Hayes Valley.
Although Patxi's offers both Chicago-style and thin-crust pies, the thick, lasagna-esque Chi-town deep dish is what many consider a special treat (or not). There's heady debate over comparisons between Patxi's version and that of its competition, Little Star (two S.F. locations) and the reigning local originator, the East Bay's Zachary's. Beware: Deep-dish pizza is still relatively rare by the bay, and the wait for a table at any of these spots can drag for an hour or more during peak pizza times.
