| Mission Minis: The tastiest thing that's ever been on a golf cart. |
We've come to expect the unexpected when it comes to our blossoming pavement cuisine scene and how these budding chefs deliver their wares, but
Mission Minis is the first we've heard of that uses a golf cart to make its deliveries. Proprietor Brandon Arnovick rides the putt-putt mainly to his regular Mission customers (like Philz, Ritual Roasters, Sugarlump, and Pirate Cat Radio), but can also deliver within the district and possibly within reasonable range for a minimum $25 order (the cupcakes run $15/dozen).
"It's about making something that's inexpensive, but still a little bit special," Arnovick told SFoodie of his minis, a cheerful-looking lot made largely from local ingredients.
We sampled three flavors at the Mission Minis booth at Outside Lands -- deep Mexican chocolate, red velvet, and (our favorite) cinnamon horchata. They're ideal fuel for on or off the course. Look for Mission Minis to open a retail location in -- where else? -- in October.
