Learn to Make Bacon, Granny Style, at Slow Food Workshop
A four-hour Slow Food bacon- and sausage-making workshop is happening this Saturday, August 8, from 1 to 5 p.m., in a private home in San Francisco. For twenty bucks and a bottle of vino (for sharing), the secrets of swine can be all yours at what Slow Food Berkeley (the organizer) is calling a Grandmother Workshop. Expect basic curing and smoking knowledge, along with sausage tastings. Guests will take home their own pink curing salt to get their bacon groove on later, in the privacy of their own homes. Tickets are required, and the event is open to the public. Organizer Dario Barbone told SFoodie via phone that the Slow Food Berkeley group wanted to "get more people in touch with meat." All a part of what he called "sharing." ![]()
