Score one for SOMA, and zero for the Mission. Before being evicted earlier this year after nearly two decades of service, Suriya Thai was a Mission standby for authentic Thai food in a calm setting. Knowing Pi Bar (a pizza joint) is on the way in the old Valencia shop space at 1432 Valencia at 25th Street does little to quell the craving for dishes like Evil Jungle Prince (the Prince may be evil but he's sooo tasty!).

Suriya Thai's legions of fans seem pleased to know the relocated restaurant has opened for business at 1532 Howard (at 11th Street). Yes, the Evil Jungle Prince is again in da house. Folks in the Mission are left with Thai options like the somewhat clubby OSHA Thai (819 Valencia near 18th Street), decent Pad Thai (3259 Mission near Valencia), and Dusit Thai (3221 Mission at Fair Avenue).
