Share Our Strength Benefit Serves Up Good Food with a Side of Karma
Considering that on an ordinary night at Masa's, the five-course prix fixe is $95 (wine pairings an additional $59),sans tax or tip, a $150 tariff for five courses and wine that includes tax and tip is something of a bargain. That's what's on offer for a Share Our Strength benefit on August 15th called A Tasteful Pursuit. Proceeds help fight domestic child hunger: a good deal that's also a good deed. 
Masa's chef Gregory Short and pastry chef John McKee are collaborating with Mark Dommen, chef/partner of One Market. Also on board: chef Xavier Salomon of the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay and William Werner, pastry chef at Quince. Menu details are still sketchy, but expect amazing summer produce, and at least one surprise: Masa's sommelier Alan Murray has promised to pair Dommen's first course with Stella Artois beer, though wines will accompany the other four courses, including two desserts.
