Easy Kitchenette's Simplified Menu Tweets a Good-Natured Hoax, Apparently

Last week we reported on Easy Kitchenette, tweets that appeared to be radically simplified versions of the daily menu tweets by Kitchenette, the Dogpatch lunch place. We assumed Kitchenette owner Douglas Monsalud was behind Easy K, posting alternate tweets for followers with zero patience for detailed menu descriptions like this: baguette filled with terra firma tomatoes, willey farm cukes, spring onions, fromage blanc, shaved fennel olivada. And this: fried cod roll with avocado, aioli, kumquat, chayote, cilantro, jalapeno. Easy Kitchenette boiled those two tweets down to this: vegetarian sandwich or a fish sandwich.

Turns out we were wrong. In a voicemail message, Monsalud told us he has no idea who's sending out the Easy Kitchenette tweets, but that he loves them. "Somebody out there started it on their own, and is just basically simplifying or demystifying my sometimes obtuse tweets," he said, adding that he's "getting a big kick out of it." Monsalud said he's tried -- in vain -- to find out who's doing the phantom twittering. "I did direct-message them and basically said that they rocked, whoever they are."
