Let's do lunch:
Call it a San Francisco summer tradition: soup. SF Weekly restaurant critic Meredith Brody suggests wading into the meaty goodness of a Number Seven (rare steak, well-done flank, tendon, and tripe) at Pho Clement (239 Clement at Third Ave., 379-9008).

Drink therapy:
A to Zen Hour? Sounds complicated and comprehensive, but really, it's as easy as kicking back with noshes and drink specials in the lounge at Ponzu (401 Taylor at O'Farrell, 775-7979), 4:30-6:30 p.m.

It's as cozy as a basement rumpus room, and with $3 wells and drafts, $11 pitchers, and other drink specials, you can afford to indulge in plenty of rumpus: McTeagues Saloon (1237 Polk at Bush, 722-6620), noon-7 p.m.
