Ovations, who controls the food booths at the San Mateo Event Center, broke the contract with Uhuru Foods just on Friday. They REFUSE to give any explanation. This was not only one of the healthier food booths, but also supports African self-determination programs. Apparently, they don't support African people have social justice and self-dtermination. Call Ovations, San Mateo Fairgrounds and Maker Faire and demand that Uhuru be a vendor at this year's festival. For more info see: www.uhurufoods.org.

I just heard that Ovations unilaterally cancelled Uhuru Foods' contract.
I went looking for the Ovations side at their Web site, but found no mention of either Uhuru or the Maker Faire itself. I think it stinks, but I'd be interested in their side before I condemn them for their action.

No reason? How about the fact that you guys sponsored a vigil for child rapist, drug-dealer, car-jacker and most of all murderer Lovell Mixon? I don't think people are happy to have a group such as yours at a family-oriendted event. All one needs to do is read your website to see the hate and vitriol you spew. You are not the only voice of people of color so quit plyaing the race card. People of color and those who are not are equally as sick of your crap. You may have got your permit reinstated, but there will be priotesters in front of your booth handing out leaflets with your own words on them so all can see what you truly stand for: hate and racism. Nobody's buying your out-dated ideology and we don't appreciate your statements that claim our officers 'deserved' to be murdered by that POS referred to as a folk hero. You all are truly pathetic and are no different from the KKK. I'm sorry you harbor so much guilt for the racist thoughts in your own heads that you can't seem to escape. You really need to stop projecting and really need to stop trying to tell the black community what they need. What they don't need is the likes of your group that can't show proof of any good works in the community inciting them to be criminals as though it is their birthright. You cater to the lowest common denominator in the black community and further entrench them in their oppression by encouraging them to make excuses for not working hard like everyone else around them. You group is an insult to hard-working, law-abiding people of color everywhere. Losers.
