of Emeryville wins taste points for its apricot-flavored California Suncakes, a great alternative to the glut of dry, processed energy bars on the market. And unlike other vegan products that use dried plums to create a moist texture, the whole thing doesn't end up tasting only of plum; the apricot chunks and oats still have a chance to shine. I tried this product about a year ago and found that the texture left something to be desired, but the "improved!" proclamation on the package was enough to give it a second chance, and it wasn't a mistake to do so. This was found for $1.99 at the Nature Stop (1336 Grant), but they should be in all local Whole Foods locations as well.
