Snacktion: Lotte's Soyer Chocolate Soy Protein Snack
Wednesday, Feb. 11 2009 @ 2:00PM
Brand: Lotte
Origin: Japan
Cost: $2.39
Found at: Sunset Super (2425 Irving)
Ingredients: Sugar, skimmed soybean, whole milk powder, corn starch, cocoa butter, cacao mass, palm oil, lactose, salt, wheat flour, egg, shellac, calcium carbonate, vegetable lecithin, artificial flavor
Calories per serving: 150
Why I bought it: I wanted to know whether chocolate soy protein would be gross or delicious.
Tasting notes: This sort of tastes like a larger and puffier version of Cocoa Pebbles cereal, with almost as nice of a crunch. However, despite cocoa butter appearing so high on the roll call of ingredients, the chocolate tastes cheap and waxy-- maybe because "shellac" is one of the ingredients? This could be great Snacktion if a real chocolatier attempted to make it with better quality ingredients.
Would I buy it again? Yes, but just to introduce others to the novelty. I'm not sure I like the sound of the shellac, even if it may be an incorrect translation.
What other blogs/sites think of it: This seems to be another yet-to-be-discovered item in blogland.
