Macy's Hosts Two S.F. Battle of the Chefs

macyschefbattle_photo.jpg
The third annual Battle of the Chefs begins tomorrow night (Wednesday, February 11) at the Cellar in Macy's Union Square (170 O'Farrell) with a culinary showdown between executive chefs Hoss Zaré (Zaré at Fly Trap) and Jonnatan Leiva (Jack Falstaff) and continues on Wednesday, March 4, when Jennifer Biesty (Scala's Bistro/Top Chef) faces off against Dominique Crenn (Luce). Both will be hosted and narrated by pastry chef extraordinaire Marisa Churchill, a former Top Chef contestant herself. These high caliber competitors each have unique charisma and flair, ensuring that these fights will not be easily won.

The competition borrows elements from Top Chef as well as Iron Chef, with a secret item to be announced on-site that they'll have to use, though the participants will each bring a sous chef and an arsenal of their own ingredients. While the audience won't necessarily get to taste the resulting dishes, the $10 ticket does provide some nibbles beforehand as well as cocktails beginning at 6 p.m. (with the main event to follow at 6:30). And if either Battle of the Chefs sell out prior to start time, there will be free standing room only admission to watch in the back.
