Neato Bento: Medicine Eatstation

Since I hadn't been to Medicine Eatstation (161 Sutter) in a couple of years, it was a surprise to find out that the restaurant is now only serving its beautiful, organic Japanese food for lunch. While many of the menu selections remain intact, there are now eight bento boxes (priced from $10.50 to $15) available for dining in or to go. I tried the shichimi crusted Ahi tuna and was surprised to see a much larger quantity of fish than one would expect in a lunch special. It was as clean and flavorful as the fruit and vegetables in the bento, and was a refreshing and healthful break from the never-ending holiday leftovers. --Tamara Palmer
