Wednesday Night: Christopher Elbow Wine and Chocolate Pairing

From Kevin Blum's City Dish comes word of a chocolate and wine pairing at Christopher Elbow's enticing boutique, an alert that is especially appreciated since this special event isn't even mentioned on the Elbow Web site. Elbow's artisanal pieces are both visually arresting and leftfield and often dip into alcohol for inspiration, such as with the absinthe truffle, cabernet caramel and bourbon pecan marzipan. Four pairings are planned for the evening: Montsarra Cava sparkling wine with white chocolate and strawberry caramel, Tuke Holdsworth tawny port with Tanzanie dark 70% bonbon, Broadbent Madeira with goat cheese and honey bonbon, and Brachetto Mariposa Casalone 2007 with raspberry bonbon. The tasting takes place on Wednesday, September 10 from 7-8 p.m. at Christopher Elbow, 401 Hayes (at Gough). Tickets are $30 and available through localwineevents.com — Tamara Palmer
