Heirloom tomato season may be waning in a year that's been a bit bad to the fruit. But there's room for at least one last big hurrah as Amy Goldman, author of the new art/recipes book The Heirloom Tomato: From Garden to Table (and someone who has personally grown more than 200 varieties), gives her tips for cultivating and serving those delicious oddities. Wednesday, September 10 at noon at the Commonwealth Club. Admission is $15 ($8 for members). —Tamara Palmer
