Deal Alert: Half Priced Bottles At Frisee

frisee_cake.jpg

Maybe it's the current recession economic downturn, but local restaurants sure seem to be pulling out the stops to draw customers. Case in point: New American spot Frisee (2367 Market) in the Castro, which just launched a special half-priced bottle night as well as a three-course prix-fixe menu for $33. Every Tuesday from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. every bottle of wine (with dinner) is half off. The $33 prix-fixe menu is served Monday through Thursday, and it goes like this. First course: choice of caesar salad, dinner salad, or soup du jour. Second: Whole wheat vegan ravioli (locally ground wheat, butternut squash, tomato basil marinara, toasted pumpkin seeds, apricots, garlic oil, baguette points) roasted chicken breast (slow roasted free-range chicken breast, spinach-shitake risotto cakes, sweet corn puree, sauteed spinach, apricot pan sauce) or chutney stuffed pork loin (cherry apricot chutney, bacon sage polenta, summer succotash, thyme onion pan sauce, slivered onion crisps). Third: pineapple upside down cake.
