Celebrate the Joy of Sake in October

If sake and appetizers sound like the perfect little slice of heaven, the Joy of Sake will own your heart in October. 300 varieties of daiginjo, ginjo, junmai and kimoto/yamahai sakes will be paired with small bites from San Francisco restaurants including Betelnut (king salmon with serrano peppers, kaiware sprouts and lemon ponzu), Hime (miso-braised beef tendon), Memphis Minnie's (beef brisket), Poleng Lounge (braised pork belly with pineapple) and Sanraku (bamboo shoots and wakame with sweet sesame sauce). The pearly gates open on Thursday, October 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Galleria Design Center, 101 Henry Adams St (at Kansas). Tickets are $75 and available on the Joy of Sake site. -- Tamara Palmer
