The Golden Glass Cometh: Winemaker Dinner At Fifth Floor

golden_glass.jpg

In addition to the Grand Tasting (find out all about that here) at this year's 5th Annual Golden Glass Fundraiser for Slow Food, they're throwing a slew of fabulous winemaker dinners well worth checking out at a handful of local restaurants this week. But first, a little background: Once an Italian-only wine event, Golden Glass recently expanded to showcase sustainably-produced wines from locales as far-flung as New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, and Chile, not to mention Germany, Spain, France, and Italy. The winemaker dinners bring together a great cross-section of chefs, winemakers, Slow Foodies and press -- not to mention plain old eaters -- for (what else?), a whole lot of good eats and drinks. The first dinner is happening this Thursday, June 5, at Fifth Floor (12 Fourth St. at Stevenson). Join Tempranillo masters Alejandro Fernandez and Tinto Pesquera (founders of Ribera del Duero) for a six-course, nine-wine event. $150 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Call 348-1555 for reservations.
