Drink of the Week: Buli-Buli!

If you’re cheap, broke or a combination of the two, here’s a quick and easy way to Rachael Ray some crappy beer.

I was first introduced to this drink at a place called Primo Patio near At&t Park. The menu promised that the drink, comprised of beer, sugar and lime juice had Cuban origins. I was like, that’s disgusting, let’s order it.

One delicious, empty pitcher later I was forced to drink my words. It’s the perfect ice-cold summer drink, well suited for barbecues and roof top soirées. Here’s the recipe:

2 beers ( Primo Patio recommended Miller Draft, but I used Tecate because I am fancy.)
a lot of ice
four limes
a crapload of sugar

Here is what you should definitely not do: don’t dump an excess amount of sugar into the pitcher after you’ve already mixed the beer, limes, and ice, unless you want the pitcher to uncontrollably vomit forth an unending stream of foaming beer all over your feet, table, floor, couch and kitchen counter. I’m not actually sure what the correct mixing method is, but I finally resorted to spooning the sugar in a little at a time and stirring it in thoroughly before adding more.

Once you’ve finished mixing the Buli-Buli, serve immediately and drink until hollering its name while fist pumping the air passes for witty repertoire.
