Tongue Tied and Tasty Cocktail Competition At Rye
Break out the gin and get ready for some crazy limerick-spitting, botanical-mixing madness at the Tongue Tied and Tasty Cocktail Competition Tuesday night at Rye (688 Geary), the latest installment in their monthly mixing competition. It goes down like this: plucky young bartending talent with a shine for lyrical stylings are challenged with slinging the tastiest, most mesmerizing libation showcasing one of the 13 Hendrick's Gin botanicals (here goes: cucumber, rose petal, elderflower, chamomile, juniper berry, caraway seed, coriander, cubeb berry, orris root, lemon peel, orange peel, meadowsweat, and angelica) -- Meadowsweat? Really? Anyway, here's the kicker: each contestant must present his/her drink to a panel of "discerning tipplers" accompanied by a five-line spoken limerick to announce, describe, and/or shamelessly hype said drink. The barkeep with the sharpest limerick and the lip-smackingest drink wins, with mysterious and unusual prizes in store. Tuesday, May 20; 7:00 p.m.
