Drink of the Week: 21st Amendment's Watermelon Wheat
Today’s drink of the week can be found mere steps from the SF Weekly offices and I’m not going to lie to you guys, its proximity played a large part in its being designated Drink of the Week. I was going to try and finagle a post out of my visit to Zeitgeist last night, where ReadyMade magazine was having a party for their latest issue, but upon showing up at the bar around sixish there was not a free magazine or craft table in sight, so I hot-footed it home and watched two hours of So You Think You Can Dance instead. Anyway, anyone who’s ever gotten hammered in the city knows that Zeitgeist is famous for their Bloody Marys. So due to laziness, and not a small amount of desire to get a buzz on during my lunch break, I give you 21st Amendment’s own Watermelon Wheat.
And you know what? It’s actually pretty good. It’s light and crisp and they brew it with watermelon, but not so much that you feel like a thirteen-year-old dumping dad’s leftover Bud Light into your can of whatever they stick you with at family reunions. And it comes with a wedge of watermelon so alkies can pat themselves on the back for eating a solid while they drink their lunch. --Andy Wright
