... And it's much, much worse than hot cheese scalding the roof of your mouth. On Saturday 23-year-old Derek Butch and 32-year-old Jason De La Cruz were senselessly gunned down outside Irving Pizza (Irving near 19th Avenue). De La Cruz, a husband and father of three, was waiting for a pie to reward his employees at a Verizon Wireless store in Daly City for their sales efforts. They both died on the sidewalk a few doors down. De La Cruz's sister was quoted thusly in the Chron:

"My big brother was such a caring and generous person. I can't believe he lost his life over something as stupid and meaningless as pizza."

For once in my life, I agree with a statement that includes the assertion that pizza is meaningless and stupid. The shooter remains at large and is described by police as a thin Asian man in his 20s riding in or driving a two-door possibly Acura Integra or Honda Civic. (via SFGate)
