Michael Bauer Defends His (And Michael Mina's) Honor
Chron food scribe Michael Bauer finally tosses out the coveted four stars to a restaurant -- a remarkably restrained gush on Michael Mina -- and inexplicably, the morons pounce! After the comments section of his review began to read more like a free-for-all at an intro. to political theory course ...
"As in, an enclave for the rich and white; sweep the rest of us from view. Mr. Bauer, your comments strike me as both classist and elitist. The conventioneers at whom you sneer pour billions of dollars into our city's economy; panhandlers are bound to exist in any society with such wild divergences of wealth as our own, esp. in SF, where the cost of living is astronomical. How's about coming down from your high horse once in a while? You're writing would improve vastly if you weren't so prissy and enamoured with the bourgeiosie (sic)."
... Bauer shot back on his blog:
"If you follow this logic, does it mean that because of all the social, economic and political problems we face that right-minded people should scrap the Opera, Symphony and Ballet? I don't think so. Culture isn't cheap; it's priceless."
