I know we have an obesity problem in the U.S., but this is just crazy: a Mississippi lawmaker offered up a bill that would require restaurants to ban fat people. The man who proposed the measure says he never expected the bill to become law, but just wanted to bring some attention to fat people in Mississippi, like you could miss them if you tried. One study clocks over 30 percent of adults in that state as obese.

"I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi," said Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, who acknowledges that at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, he'd probably have a tough time under his own bill.
