Eater SF's Gatekeepers: The Slanted Door, Fake Poo

eater_sf.jpg

Eater SF finally premiered its own west coast version of "The Gatekeepers" -- already a popular weekly feature of its NYC counterpart, wherein the most on-point food bloggers in town take their show on the road "with the hope of meeting the fine men and women standing between you and some of your favorite impossible-to-get- tables."

Their maiden voyage takes us to The Slanted Door where manager David Williams deftly stonewalls on all the juicy questions about bribes-for-tables, celebrity sightings and VIP service. There is, however, one gem to reveal on the topic of accommodating bizarre customer requests:

"We couldn't help one guy out who wanted us to place a piece of fake poo in his girlfriend's appetizer with her engagement ring underneath. The poo aspect of their inside joke was too much for us."

Anytime poo, in any of its myriad incarnations, makes an appearance on a food blog, it's worth quoting. And now you know my personal food blog philosophy.
