Project Runway All Stars Episode 2: Creepy Crawlies
Kenley, the retro uber-bitch
Well it's week two and I'm already hoping that the Curse of the All Stars hosts hits Alyssa Milano. Hard. She's not convincing as a fashion diva, though she tries, and I keep expecting her to cast a spell. It doesn't help that a story arose last week of how bitchy she was to Kenley Collins at the launch party for the new season.
Yeah, that Kenley, the retro uber-bitch and former All Star contestant who can out-beeatch just about anyone. But apparently Alyssa didn't like the way she was looking at her and a mega cat-fight erupted. Maybe I should give her a break though; dating Corey Haim for years has to change a girl.
But onto the episode. Our heroes go to the American Museum of Natural History and use creepy crawlies as an inspiration for an avant-garde look. "Your creation should be experimental and innovative," says Alyssa, "and I'm gonna be really hard on y'all if they're not," she adds sternly.
Jeffrey, he should be gone now
I have a crackpot theory about All Stars, and it's that the judges already know who they want to be in the final four before the show even starts. It's a popularity contest. How else to explain the fact that Daniel went home instead of Jeffrey? Jeffrey made a ridiculous ensemble with feathers, short shorts, one bright red leg, and the model's face poking out of an ottoman. "Jefferey might think that this look is pushing the envelope," said Christopher, "I personally think she's wrapped in the envelope. I think it looks like the leg lamp from A Christmas Story." Dude, you nailed it. I can also hear Tim Gunn, "Frankly this looks like student work. I'm worried."
Now for the good news: Mychael won for his gorgeous green and light grey dress inspired by a caterpillar... a nice metaphor for a guy who could end up a butterfly by winning the whole thing.
