One for you and one for me

When we used to think of craft fairs, we pictured the ones our grandma brought us to in the early 1990s -- they were usually in a church and there were always crocheted Kleenex-box covers for sale.

We're sure someone out there is still needle-pointing Christmas sweater appliques, but times have changed, and the latest 21st century craft fair, West Coast Craft, is making its San Francisco debut this weekend.

Featuring works from over 150 west coast artists, designers, and craft persons, you can expect to see modern housewares, jewelery, clothing, and more. What may be the best part is that you get to buy the wares directly from the source. No more wondering where that sweater was made, you can just ask the designer where she go the idea and the materials.

And forget about the typical church craft fair refreshments, the Bon Vivants will shake up cocktails and ForageSF will serve food.

West Coast Craft will be open Nov.16-17 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Fort Mason Center Fesitval Pavilion. Admission is free.
