An Art Installation that Doubles as a Game Show: Contenda

Categories: Art

Who doesn't love game shows?

It's kind of like Jeopardy, except it's about art, and all the contestants are students trying to win prizes and scholarships.

The latest art installation at ASC Projects, from Tim Roseborough, features a visual arts quiz show (Contenda) and reception -- where your participation is encouraged. The studio audience will be asked to cheer on their favorite contestants while the cameras are rolling. Yes, cameras. What's a good game show without a wider audience?

The footage will be made into Conteda's first webisode, while the rest of the Contenda exhibit will feature visual works from Roseborough that are designed around game shows. These works, and the quiz show, are aimed at deconstructing the vast amount of information that is the visual art world into "trivial" segments, according ASC Projects.

The quiz and reception are on Saturday, Nov. 16, 3-4:30 p.m., and the rest of the exhibit is on display through the end of the month at ASC Projects (104 Treat).
