What's not to love?
Screw holding hands in New York City's Central Park, San Francisco is officially the place for budding love.

According to the dating/travel site, MissTravel.com, San Francisco was named the most romantic city in North America. How did they determine this? The love scientists say since it launched in April 2012, more than 300,000 women and generous (aka lonely) men have registered with the site, and have used it to fly around the country looking for love.

Despite the chilly summer months, the season was popular for San Francisco with more couples booking trips through MissTravel to visit the City by the Bay than any other destination.

Brandon Wade, the site's founder, said that he's not surprised San Francisco is on top of the list, citing the cities "perfect weather" whimsical trolleys, and the Golden Gate Bridge as alluring backdrops for would-be Romeos.

"It's impossible not to fall in love with this city, and maybe the person you happen to experience (it) with," Wade said in a statement.

Sure, if you have that kind of time and money.

In any event, here's the top 20 Romantic destinations:

  • 1. San Francisco, CA

  • 2. New York, NY

  • 3. Miami, FL

  • 4. Las Vegas, NV

  • 5. Toronto, ON

  • 6. Los Angeles, CA

  • 7. Orlando, FL

  • 8. Dallas, TX

  • 9. Honolulu, HI

  • 10. Nashville, TN

  • 11. Montreal, QC

  • 12. Austin, TX

  • 13. San Diego, CA

  • 14. Seattle, WA

  • 15. Chicago, IL

  • 16. Philadelphia, PA

  • 17. Washington D.C.

  • 18. Santa Barbara, CA

  • 19. Vancouver, BC

  • 20. Salt Lake City, UT

All this research begs the question: What do you think is the most Romantic spot in San Francisco?

The most romantic place for love in San Francisco is actually in the Inn Above Tide in Sausalito, just at the other side of Golden Gate Bridge, the Inn Above Tide is the only hotel ON San Francisco Bay! With breath taking VIEWS of San Francisco, you can't help but FALL IN LOVE there!

I still remember my most romantic memory in the city: I was stopped in a bus zone (because there was no parking on Clement St was available) waiting for my wife to get groceries. One of SF's finest stood outside my car door and wrote me a $381 parking ticket, then handed it to me thru the window. Oh the romance!

Oh yeah, the way that homeless man in SOMA seductively pulled his pants up after crapping in a doorway corner was super Romantic. Paris has nothing on us.
