A Walkthrough of Woody Allen's S.F.-Based Movie "Blue Jasmine" on the Occasion of There Being a Trailer

Categories: Film, Movies

San Francisco caught Woody Allen fever last year as residents tracked his every move while he was filming in the city. The phenomenon became known on twitter as #woodyspotting.

The famed director was seen filming everywhere from a shady corner near 16th Street and South Van Ness Avenue to Ocean Beach.

And now, the trailer for Blue Jasmine, starting Cate Blanchett, has been released.

Blanchett plays a disgraced Park Avenue woman named Jasmine who moves to San Francisco to live with her sister after her Bernie Madoff-like husband (played by Alec Baldwin) gets busted by the feds.

Here's a quick walkthrough of some of the San Francisco places seen in the short trailer:

Jasmine flies first class via Virgin America, which is headquartered in Burlingame. "The flight was bumpy and the food was awful," she says.

She lives with her sister on one of the 16 apartments at 301-307 South Van Ness Ave., near 14th Street. "Your place is homey," Jasmine tells her sister. The place is right above New Central Café, a Mexican restaurant that serves "Tortas Calientes."

As SFist points out, she goes to The Ramp in the Dogpatch for drinks, twice.

She's seen walking in Chinatown on what appears to be an uncomfortable date.

Comedian Louis C.K. is seen walking alongside Jasmine's sister in Ocean Beach. C.K. will also be seen getting it on, according to one source who's seen the movie, in a minivan on the beach below the Cliff House. So that's something to look forward to.

Our source also reports that the keen eye will notice a copy of the Chronicle with the always-topical headline, "Pot Club Battles Fed Crackdown," and that apparently Allen thinks S.F. "is full of white working-class bros named Chilli who say things like 'She's cuckoo baby!' and 'I'm nuts about you!'"

But, on the plus side, Blanchett's Jasmine calls the city "beautifully European" and "Mediterranean."

Blue Jasmine opens July 26.

I know they shot something at that record shop on like 20th street in the Mission.  Was riding by when the street was all blocked off..
