Erikka Innes' 'Smells Like Nerd Spirit' Offers 40 Minutes of Humor That Lives Up To Its Name

Erikka Innes embodies the spirit of nerdiness in her sophomore album, Smells Like Nerd Spirit. From an opener that wonders why female superheroes are required to have big boobs to a slew of self-deprecating ponderings and stories, Innes finds a contradictory line between a self-loathing, single anti-socialite and a proud, forward-thinking feminist.

Now based in L.A., Erikka is a hard-working and well-rounded comedic performer and artist. She produces the wildly popular live show Geek Comedy Night at venues around the state, produced and directed the award-winning short film Pool Pirates, and co-authored My Joke Book with a dozen funny friends. She appears regularly on the Sirius/XM radio Laugh Attack program "Get Off My Lawn", and co-hosts the internet radio show "Grand Theft Audio" on RadioTitans.com. She's also a prolific writer, with credits including the Vacaville Reporter and SF Bay Guardian. And she's a killer personality to keep up with on Twitter.

In Smells Like Nerd Spirit, Innes shares 40 minutes of her life as what she calls "Commander of the Nerd Legion" -- "Nerd Legion" being the not-so-flattering pet name she's bestowed upon her most loyal fans. But with absurd fantasies like a comic book supervillain seductress named Harriet Herpes, and ironic commentary on being kicked out of San Francisco for not being a non-conformist enough to fit in, Nerd Spirit is for more than just nerds.

Despite a wide appeal that comes with being an attractive woman and having the sense to avoid insider-only references in her set, Innes still commands her nerdy niche within the stand-up comedy world. Between a Twitter handle that reads @nerdgirlcomedy, her debut album titled Sex with Nerds, and the nerdy derivative title of this most recent release, the geeky girl has zeroed in on her target audience. She does not disappoint. Live, on air, in writing, or on CD, Innes serves up a delightful dose of clever, eclectic, and -- of course -- nerdy humor.
