If you haven't been to a Cal Academy NightLife event, tonight should be one of your New Year's resolutions. Featuring half price admission, plentiful cocktails, interesting bites to eat, and live music, in addition to all the fascinating exhibitions (without the screaming children running around), it's one of the raddest and most informative happenings on a Thursday night.

In the spirit of the New Year, local heavyweights San Franpsycho, The Crucible, and SF Brewcraft chip in to make the ultimate How-To NightLife. D.I.Y. enthusiasts can rejoice in hopping from workstation to workstation, learning skills like: screenprinting shirts, growing mushrooms and vertical gardens, self-defense, improving your running technique, DJing skills, mixology, and more. There's something to tickle everyone's creative fancy, including music by Natural Curves, and Primo and Jordan of 2 Men Will Move You.
How-To NightLife starts Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. at the California Academy of Sciences, 55 Music Concourse (at Martin Luther King Jr. in Golden Gate Park), S.F. Admission is $10-$12.
