We knew that so-called "trashy" Southern TV shows like Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Bayou Billionaires have found their way into America's hearts and homes, but we stopped short of thinking that the genre would also find its way into their pants.

Alas. The world surprises us. According to the entertainment website TMZ, Game Link, an adult website that specializes in the "hillbilly/redneck" genre (there's a website for everyone!), there has been a "250 percent increase in Southern, white-trashy porn titles since 2010 ... when the redneck reality shows began to take off."

America's schadenfreude fascination with trashy culture is certainly not new. (Hello, Jersey Shore!), though it's not quite as common for said culture to cross over to the adult industry. Speaking of Jersey Shore, MTV is replacing that cultural gem with a series about West Virginians. Goodbye tanning beds, hello Moonshine?

If you're baffled by the surges and successes of so-called "hillbilly" TV, you're not the only one. A few months ago, Slate pondered the phenomenon of Honey Boo Boo, positing that our obsession may be linked to the shitty economy.

These shows reassure us that our struggle is worth it, all economic evidence to the contrary -- if only because we would never belly-flop into the mud on cable television.

We may not belly flop in the mud, but we will jerk off to it, it seems. And in a way, it makes sense. If the economy has headed south, then why wouldn't our porn follow suit as well, especially in today's era where you can find the rarest of rare sex fetishes with a few easy clicks?
