Free Cab Rides on New Year's Eve
![]() |
Writers aren't known for being sociable, and lawyers aren't known for being nice. But on NYE, this writer is going to break his habit of hiding in the Outer Sunset, and Berg Injury Lawyers is gonna do us all a solid with its free cab ride home program. Berg Injury Lawyers' tradition is motivated by William Berg's first-hand knowledge of the pain and anguish caused when families lose a loved one in an alcohol fueled crash. Or maybe by the desire for some kick-ass P.R., but who's counting when there's a free cab ride on the table?

The program covers Sacramento and San Francisco, and starts at 10 p.m. on Monday, December 31 and goes until 3 a.m. on January 1. For Sacramento you can call Yellow Cab Company of Sacramento at (916) 444-2222, and you must be picked up at a bar, restaurant, or hotel in downtown Sacramento to qualify for the free ride. San Francisco residents can call Luxor cab at (415) 282-4141 and tell them the ride is on Berg Injury Lawyers. There is a $35 cap on the cost of the ride -- which should cover you just about anywhere in the city -- but please, please, do not forget to tip the driver!
And anyone who gets tired of waiting for a cab can join me in riding public transportation, as that's one tradition I won't be breaking. MUNI, Caltrain, and several other transit agencies will offer free service. BART -- in a sudden stop at lame center station -- won't be free, but it will run until 3 a.m. So get out there and have fun and stay safe.
