Video of the Day: Pancakes, Booze, Zombies, and Art

This might be called the Era of Manic Juxtaposition. Every premise seems to want to pack it all in. It's a culture designed by MadLibs: "This movie is about Abraham Lincoln (noun) and vampires (noun)." "This machine is a phone (noun) that can check e-mail (action), recommend Thai restaurants (action), and find public nudity (San Francisco action)."

So too with certain events: "The Pancakes & Booze Art Show (food and drink) features 75 artists (quantity of nouns), a zombie fashion show (weird event), body painting (provocative action), and of course pancakes (food again)." Mash-up obsession or no, it looks like fun, which must be why it's toured through places like Austin, Miami, and Los Angeles (three cool cities). It's like a raccoon's house of shiny things, or like a party for people who are running out of time, or like a psychological test of randomness. Or like the Internet. It's a mad mad mad MadLib world.
The Pancakes & Booze Art Show starts at 8 p.m. Oct. 5-6 at Gallery 4n5, 863 Mission (at Fifth St.), S.F. Admission is $5-$10 and the Zombie Fashion Show will only be on Oct. 5.
Here's footage from their L.A. show, the soundtrack comes from audio from the actual show:
