Think Outside the Box: Cardboard Battle at Dolores Park

We seriously cannot get enough of the ridiculous hijinks that take place at Dolores Park -- from Sixteen Candles to 16 sexy Jesuses. Oh, and have we not mentioned our fascination with the endless potential of cardboard?

Introducing, for the sixth year in a row ...

Box Wars! This brainchild of Mat Kladney is an epic coming-together of cardboard and man (or woman!). We file it somewhere in between the Renaissance Fair and the Valentine's Day Pillow Fight, plus a bit of whatever this is.

Top 10 Places to Take or Act Like a Kid

According to Box Wars' Facebook Page there are only four steps to attaining childhood happiness and joy:

1. Grab a pile of cardboard and fashion a costume/suit of armor/weaponry using ONLY cardboard and tape.

2. Meet other cardboard-clad warriors for an afternoon of corrugated chaos.

3. Participate in said chaos.

4. Relive childhood happiness and joy. (Oh, that's only three steps.)

All one needs to participate is some cardboard, duct tape and a lotta moxy. Show up to the park around 2:45 p.m. and wait for Mat's cue. Then charge your new enemies/best friends as the fury ensues. In classic childhood rules, the battle stops when everyone gets tired.

The epic cardboard battle starts October 14 at 3 p.m. at Dolores Park. Admission is free.
