Video of the Day: See Patrick Swayze in All his Feathered, Mulleted Glory

Nobody puts Swayze in the corner!

Watching and mocking terrible films is something of a San Francisco pastime. The Dark Room in the Mission has its Sunday Bad Movie Night tradition (this month's theme is "Bored of the Rings"). Clay Theater in Pacific Heights hosts a weekly screening of The Room. The Castro takes its mocking to epic proportions with events like Peaches Christ's Showgirls extravaganza (buying a large popcorn gets you a free lap dance, often from a masked or hooded character!).

Now a new player is getting in on the action. SOMA B.A.G. (Bad Art Gallery), launched by SF IndieFest, is a gallery, screening room, and performance venue located in the mid-Market area that's home to "bad movies" of a different variety (ahem, Market Street Cinema Strip Club). SOMA B.A.G. kicks off its Bad Movie Playhouse with a Patrick Swayze theme.

Tonight you can view the terrible/awesome Road House, involving Swayze as a badass bouncer trying to tame a rough bar. Memorable lines include: "Pain don't hurt" and "That gal has got entirely too many brains to have an ass like that." Booze is on hand to dull the non-hurtful pain of the film, and while you're at it, sample some of the terrible/awesome art on display, salvaged from thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales. Our fave is "Crafter's Outlet Anyone Can Paint #28," made during the "controversial Paint By Numbers period" of the '80s and '90s, involving a raccoon "caught in the act of posing for a painting." If you can't make tonight, carry a watermelon to Dirty Dancing, which screens Sept. 26.

Road House starts Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. at Satellite 66, 66 Sixth St. (at Jessie), S.F. Admission is free (but donations are appreciated).
