Beyond BronyCon: Inside the My Little Pony Convention, Everfree Northwest
The sheer number of attendees, combined with the laws of thermodynamics, meant the main events involving the voice actors had very long lines that quickly reached capacity. That most of them were in the Summit Grand Ballroom on the 12th floor further slowed things down because only so many people could travel by elevator at a time. Lines typically started inside ...
... and were necessarily moved outside, because of physics and stuff.
Waiting is just part of the convention experience, not to mention both the human and pony experience (cf. "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000"), and I regarded it as evidence of the success of the convention. If there'd been meager crowds and no lines, it would have been incredibly depressing.
Both because it was faster than the elevator and I like exercise, I often just took the stairs up and down to my room. One could not go all the way to the 12th floor by the stairs, however, as a sign by Zecora (cf. "Bridle Gossip") on the 11th floor reminded us. Also, hydrate!
The "Ponies!" truck was not the only decorated vehicle. There was a car covered with blue tape and an invitation to write and draw on it ...
... which many did.
Including me.
There were many costumes to admire. Ilene was dressed in costumes she made herself as Pinkie Pie on Friday and Fluttershy on Saturday, and I wore a purple skirt Ilene made for me with Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark. My dreads are mostly purple and my bangs have been colored in Twilight's style (purple with a red off-center stripe) for several months, so that + the skirt = instant costume! Again, I didn't take a count, but I'm pretty sure there were more Pinkie Pies than any other character.
