Video of the Day: Reganomics
A lot of raw, foul-mouthed comedians have spoken potentially offensive or dangerous rhetoric onstage over the years. Brian Regan is not one of those comedians, and that's a guarantee. The Miami-born funnyman has boyish looks, even in his mid-'50s, which contributes to the somewhat wholesome image that has fared him well through dozens of late night appearances with David Letterman and his own Comedy Central specials.
While four-letter epithets or questionably racist bits won't be a part of this act, Regan will pick apart his own insecurities, shortcomings, and ailments without mercy. Nothing is off-limits when it comes to himself, including embarrassing emergency room visits and sad dietary restrictions. When he reveals such mundane personal details, he draws his audience even closer. Call it a different sort of shock comedy.
Regan overshares for public amusement August 31 at 8 and 10:15 p.m. (as well as Sept. 1) at Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus (at Mason). Admission is $45.
