IRL Etsy -- The Renegade Craft Fair Is Back!

It's a little too easy to take a Portlandia approach to craft fairs, what with the hipsterrific tendency of local DIYers to put birds on everything and call it a day -- and yes, we guarantee that you will see more than one bird-centric tote today -- but The Fifth Annual Renegade Craft Fair is anything but mock-worthy.

A veritable mecca for craft enthusiasts and their duct tape-walleted fans, this Renegade promises over 250 artists, jewelry makers, print makers, home décor decoraters, seamstresses, noshables from Pattiwagon, Tante's, and Rice, Paper, Scissors, and of course enough one-of-a-kind, handmade wares to makes all your (w)Etsy dreams come true. A random sampling of craft items from past fairs include: jewelry made from broken drum cymbals, wooden neckties, every kind of animal imaginable silk-screened on t-shirts, recycled books turned into journals, ironic baby onesies, unironic dog hoodies, penis coozies (for those blustery S.F. summers), and the ever civic prideful "I Beard S.F." attire.

If you've yet to find that belated Saint Swithin's Day gift, now's your chance. Feeling crafty yourself? Renegade also offers hands-on workshops with the likes of Urban Craft Center, Creative Bug, The Museum of Craft and Design, and Pebeo. Whatever your particular pleasure, Renegade is sure to be an artisanal jam.
The 5th Annual Renegade Craft Fair starts on July 21 at 11 a.m. (and continues through July 22) at Fort Mason Center, Marina (at Buchanan), S.F. Admission is free.
