Sex and the Gritty: Catch Circus Finelli's Latest Show
Actually, if that famous foursome replaced their Manolo Blahniks with knife juggling, the results might be similar to Circus Finelli, an irreverent, all-female clown quadruplet that, like the New Yorkers from the HBO series, doesn't shy away from the sexy or absurd. (Past Circus Finelli shows have included puppet fellatio and a fire-eating Elvis, in balloon form.)

Ringmaster Luz Gaxiola stars in the latest show, Big Time and Little Something's Big Adventure, as Big Time, a scheming accordian/tuba player with big dreams. Molly Shannon backs her up as the dim-witted, yet fancy-footed Little Something. (You may have seen Shannon shimmying with Brazilian dance ensemble Aquarela at Carnaval recently.) Inspiration for the show was gleaned from famed comedy duos like Laurel and Hardy, and Abbott and Costello, but we're pretty sure Abbott and Costello never employed "eccentric dance" or musical numbers composed on a duck horn. The foremost question on our minds is, will Mr. Blinky Winky, the puppet who once ran for mayor, make an appearance?
Big Time and Little Something's Big Adventure starts tonight (and continues through June 27) at 8 p.m. at Stage Werx Theatre, 446 Valencia (at 15th St.), S.F. Admission is $10-$15.
